my friend richard and i are doing a series of portraits of lady rockers for a show that will hang during girl's rock camp atlanta. so far, i've painted, annie lennox, bjork, janis joplin, cyndi lauper, joni mitchel, the ukulady, and here is my kristin hersh. not sure which ones will make it into the show, but i'm painting more than necessary because i'm having such fun with them.

i did several drawings last summer in my watercolor pad that have just been waiting for more work. i've been really enjoying mixing ink and watercolor and overlapping them on both wet and dry works.

here is my friend's mother. i really enjoyed painting this portrait, though it's not as strange as the portrait i did of paul, her husband. at least i painted the stranger of the two portraits first, so that anything could be expected for the second. that wasn't planned, but it worked out and i hope they this one as well!

i've finished printing all the surfer chickens that could have multi-color and multi-stage printing. any future prints will just be the outline. time to work on some painting again, though i may do a linocut self portrait in the new year...

i painted this for some good friends. they had asked for something that would represent a particular situation and they gave me 3 colors. the rest was up to me. here's how i interpret the images:
the rectangular purple spiral could be an ace bandage as viewed from above, a window, or a footboard of a bed.
the strange purple figure is either a cat or a foot sticking out from under the covers.
next to the cat/foot: flowers
the bird doesn't represent anything and is there for fun and to balance the rest of the painting.
the stripes at the bottom could be a comforter on a bed.
everything else is just color.

i love little pussy
her coat is so warm,
and if i don't hurt her
she'll do me no harm.
so i'll not pull her tail,
nor drive her away
but pussy and i
very gently will play.
