here's an acrylic and charcoal painting from 2001. i did several gesso board paintings back then and as i catalog them now i'm getting inspired to do some more... i just love the way the charcoal mixes with the wet paint - it's quite striking. enjoy.

practice
here's a sneak peak of the 2010 living room show. new paintings on top of old works of mine that i don't like. it saves space, recycles and reuses old materials and most of them already have nice texture to work on. i think the green petal falling from the hand is about all that's visibly left from the under painting... and the title. enjoy.

david in the hairdryer chair
started off 2010 with a organizing frenzy...
cleaned up my studio and filed several month's worth of paperwork.
canceled a credit card that i no longer use.
photographed and cataloged some works and ordered prints of them for my hardcopy album as well.
and with all this work i give you a favorite painting of mine on pegboard - a plastic man without arms!
i hope to catalog many more works this year.
i hope to paint at least one new painting per week.
i hope to keep my studio clean - well, let's call that 'ready to paint' instead of 'clean'.
cheers and happy new year!

summer's waiting
an old one but a good one. this painting has recently resurfaced and i'm glad because i really enjoy it and many people have asked about it over the years. now i know exactly where it is and i hope it finds a perfect home soon!

the park
sold 2 paintings just before the holidays. here is one of them. this painting was part of my 2009 living room show and i literally took it off my wall and handed it to the buyer. i'm glad this painting will be in a good home that i can visit often...
waiting for the 61
here is the other painting that just sold.. it's an older painting on a gesso board. at the time i didn't consider it a finished painting and always thought i'd go back to finish it. years later though, i realize that it is complete. cheers.
quick note about the bench: it was an art piece i often saw in the halls of the late ACA - students had made a bunch of benches - this one was covered in halved racket balls. i was always tempted to sit on it.

marco and kevin in 1981
just for fun... i have no idea what kind of ghost power i'm fighting for, but it has to be one of the funniest photos of my childhood... enjoy...

3 kathys
working on some cataloging this morning.... photographed a few works, numbered and signed some recent prints, and feel like a making a slight dent into the entire project. i've put the first 261 in numerical order up on my flickr page. after numbering all the recent prints, my count is up to 683 works. lately, i've been playing with the gouache, but mostly in my various sketchbooks...

gray anthem
working on the great cataloging project today... this is quite a rare painting in my collection as it's one of the few (if not the only) black and white paintings....
gardening
now this is an old painting. it's one of the first ones i ever painted and it still has an honorable spot on the wall in my studio. to me it is a perfect marriage of creepy and fun. i hope you enjoy.
