i recently went to a dog show to watch my friend cheryl show her dog. I've been to many dog shows, but this was this first time that i wasn't helping groom or hold dogs, so i was able to have fun with my new camera. this was one of my favorite shots, cheryl and her irish setter.

here is my most recent painting. it is a portrait of a friend's father. she commissioned it. i've done several commissions in the past, but i reached a personal breakthrough with this one. as i was working on it, i was influenced by the hope that my friend would like the outcome. i was painting something i hoped she might like. then, when i thought i was almost finished with the painting i realized that she did not request my vision of what she might like. she requested one of my paintings. so i painted what wanted.
