i also photographed some more of my favorite sketchbook pages today. there are too many pages to photograph all of them, but i would like some sort of record if anything ever happens to them. this sketch of gina might be the first sketch i did with sharpies. i now use sharpies almost entirely in my sketchbooks, though i am trying to mix it up a bit.

untitled
today i found 3 spiral bound water color sketchbooks full of artwork that i had forgotten about. they were labeled "summer 2001". this is one of my favorites, it reminds me of simon because of the long nose, bent ear, and expectant or excited look in the eyes. it's a mix of crayon and watercolor.

simon
this is probably about 10 years old. i was playing with ink and water and wanted to try to do some simple asian line drawings. it was a fun exercise, but i found that it was harder than it looks and takes a bit of finesse - i'm used to just throwing on the acrylic and painting over it if i don't like it... here's one that turned out ok, it's of simon when he was just a wee pup..
enjoy.
untitled stripes
some friends gave me this canvas - they had painted the stripes, but then decided it wasn't what they wanted. for me, it was a great background to paint on! and at 48"by30", it's one of my larger paintings. this one is hanging in my studio until i figure out where to hang it in the living room.
enjoy.
simon's beach party
here's the finished work. it feels like a spring day today so i've been photographing some new and old works... this is currently hanging above our fireplace. it still reminds me of a scene from a fellini movie.

identity theft
with the rain outside, i couldn't take a great picture, but still wanted to share my newest piece. it's called identity theft. it's a mixed media with some of my wild iris prints cut out of paper and pasted onto the canvas. there is also a border of shredded money on the sides and top... i didn't shred it! it comes that way and you can get your own for free when you visit the museum at the federal reserve bank. some of you may recognize the little man in the middle with the mustache...
enjoy.
