here's a new painting that's in The Art of Touch. show. the orange flower pot is my current obsession. it is actually a little yellow flower vase with 5 flower bud vases protruding from it. It belonged to my great grand mother and it is just so cool. on the bottom of the vase is written "HenRiot Quimper France 119". on the front of the vase is a little drawing of a women with a basket of eggs kneeling down in a clearing. she is dressed in traditional clothing that reminds me of the Brittany region of France.

I just did a quick online search and found this: Henriot

so the mystery is mostly solved. i just need to figure out when this piece was created and how many more like it there are. i'll take a pic and post it soon...

my goal last year was to reach 500 paintings. after that i wasn't going to subject myself to another goal, not yet at least. plus 1000 seems like the logical next goal and that is just too far off considering it took me several years to reach 500. anyway, i'm currently at 554 which means i could quite possibly reach 600 by the end of the year, though i'm not ready to set that goal... we'll just wait and see how it turns out...

successful show last night!

so it was a very successful show last night at The Art of Touch. despite the rain, lots of people turned out and everyone seemed to have had a good time. my favorite comment of all was from a coworker who said upon seeing my work for the first time, "Oh thank god it's good! I didn't know I was going to say if it wasn't." Just hilarious! thanks to all who came, supported local artists, drank wine, ate fine italian (stinky) cheeses, had chair massages, etc...

here's a new painting, that is not in the show this week. i would love to have put it in the show, but it currently resides in our kitchen. this painting is not for sale. i don't like putting paintings in shows that are not for sale.

group art show at The Art of Touch

I will have 6 pieces in a group art show this week. The opening reception will be Thursday, May 15 from 6-8 pm. The Art of Touch is located in midtown at 244 14th Street NE, near the W Hotel. I hope you see the show and let me know how you liked it!
